METRO COM was founded in Novara in 1935, by Oscar Comazzi who focused his technical skill and his great enthusiasm in the production of material testing machines, which at the time was, in Europe, a field almost exclusively dominated by German manufacturers.

To the construction of the first Brinell hardness testers, soon followed the design and marketing of testing machines for strain measurement on metallic materials and on concrete block specimens. After those, what followed were specific designs based on application, sector and customer necessities: like load and hardness measurements in bio-agriculture, with low force loads, testing systems for large structures in the weapon industry (with long distance operator controls), or independent test execution cells without operator intervention.

Throughout the years, METRO COM has followed the evolution of the different technical sectors to manufacture machines that can combine mechanical and traditional hydraulic devices with the advantages of electronics and informatics, thus being able to provide new, better systems for machines already in function to our customers.

By the end of the ‘80s, METRO COM had already integrated its production with tensile testing machines and strain testing systems with machines for the certification of finished and assembled products (to conduct tests on furniture, mattresses, pipes, faucets, directly on assembly lines and with multiple strain sources, etc.)
